DESCRIPTION:
LA GAILLARDE: a classic yacht designed for fast, comfortable, and safe cruising by ABEKING and RASMUSSEN in 1939. Perfectly maintained by its successive owners (6) through renowned shipyards (Campers & Nicholson, Fernand Hervé…), experts in woodwork.
Manageable with a crew of 2, LA GAILLARDE offers 6 berths spread over 2 double cabins + 2 additional berths in the saloon, with all the comforts of a modern yacht.
Member of the Yacht Club Classique, LA GAILLARDE sails every year approximately 3000 miles within her sailing area from Portugal to Ireland and England. Her recent and extensive sail inventory (15 sails), serviced annually, allows her to sail in all weather conditions.
Built of solid teak, uncaulked, on steamed oak frames, copper riveted, always fully varnished and regularly checked (keel bolts replaced, re-riveted in 2016, deck and superstructure redone in 2012). Mast and rigging overhauled in 2019. All interior fittings and equipment (engine, electronics, comfort features, etc.) refurbished in 2016.
Classified as a BIP (Vessel of Heritage Interest – see site https://www.patrimoine-maritime-fluvial.org/navires-du-patrimoine/navires-bip-search/la-gaillarde/), she is eligible for “Monument historique” classification should the new owner wish (this classification allows access to certain financial benefits - berth fees, maintenance works, access to privileged zones, etc.). She holds an annual berth at the La Rochelle Maritime Museum port under specific financial terms.
