This design category requires that the sailboat be suitable for long cruises with winds exceeding 8 (Beaufort scale) and waves over 4 meters, allowing it to sail largely under its own power.
It also means that the manufacturer self-certifies the conformity of the construction and equipment with the directives, but that stability and freeboard, as well as buoyancy and flotation, have been verified by an accredited control body.
This Bavaria 42 has only known one family who has just decided (reluctantly) to sell it due to age.
